Jun.21st 2020 SCIP+ Green Chemistry and Chemical Engineering Innovation and Entrepreneurship Contest held launch ceremony in Shanghai International Trade Center, marking the start of a new contest schedule. Chairman Shousheng Li of China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation delivered a video speech. The Chinese Society of Chemical Industry sent a congratulatory letter to the start of the contest.

Zhang Chun, Xin Zhong, Vice President of East China University of Science and Technology, Xavier CHATTE-RUOLS, Commercial Counselor of the French Business and Investment Agency, and Bartvan Hezewijk, Officer of the Science and Technology Innovation Department of the Dutch Consulate General in Shanghai, etc. “Water” start the contest.

Chairman Shousheng Li congratulated the new beginning of this contest from a higher starting point, hoping that the contest will be a first-class event with “advanced theme, great expectations of participants, global attention, outstanding achievement” and become an important carrier for innovation and entrepreneurship in the chemical industry. Moreover, become the new vitality to promote the green and high-end development of the chemical industry, to build Shanghai into a national highland for the development of chemical science and technology.

Director Jing Ma mentioned in her speech that Shanghai Chemical Industry Park has always adhered to green as the important orientation and innovation as the fundamental driving force. The Shanghai International Chemical New Material Innovation Center, which is being accelerated, will provide various innovative teams with professional supporting services and outstanding entrepreneurial environment.

This contest will collect innovative solutions or entrepreneurial practice results in a targeted manner through designated topics, adding new impetus to the promotion of technological innovation and sustainable development in the chemical industries. The contest also has two overseas competition areas in France and the Netherlands.

 

Vice President Zhong Xin expressed his determination and confidence to continue to hold the contest under the coronavirus pandemic and introduce the new direction of the contest for the collection of works for the new anti-pandemic project of “green chemical industry + health safety”, and proposed to make well-prepared work plan for online promotion, training and review and arrange the event process according to changes in the epidemic prevention situation to ensure the health and safety of participants.

At the launching ceremony, the Shanghai Chemical Industry Park issued a donation certificate to the co-organizers that provided financial and technical support; the competition organization committee issued letters of appointment to representatives of judges from well-known domestic and foreign companies and professional institutions; and the French Commercial Investment Agency delivered a speech on behalf of the co-organizers. The meeting also reviewed the overall situation and highlights of the first 2019 contest in the form of video display, and held a settlement ceremony for some winning teams.

In the congratulatory letter, the Chinese Society of Chemical Industry wishes the contest to give full play to the role of selection and incentives, and build a more open, interactive, shared, and innovative exchange platform, which will promote the leap-forward development of chemical technology.

 

The launching ceremony was presided over by Mr. Jian Zhu, deputy general manager of the Development Company of the Chemical Industry Park. The organization committee, representatives of the review committee, representatives of the first award-winning team, and heads of sponsors, co-organizers, and cooperative units participated in the ceremony. Jianguo Sun, deputy general manager of the development company, and relevant personnel from the business department, office, investment company, and enterprise development company attended the event.

Participating teams should stick to the development concept of innovation, coordination, green, openness, and sharing and theme of green chemistry and chemical engineering to connect with new materials, new energy, environment protection, smart manufacture, process control, health & safety to create innovative products, services or entrepreneurial practice for highlighting greener synthesis, reaction conditions and chemical design concept, and possess scientific and technological innovation achievements (such as academic papers, R & D projects, rewarded R & D achievements, academic monograph, patent, research report etc.) and relatively mature technology, product, innovative service and implementation plan.

According to the schedule, from June 21st to October 15th, the participating teams can register and submit their works through the contest website (http://plus.scip.com.cn). From October 16th, they will enter the audition, semi-finals. The Finals will be held in December for the optimization of shortlisted works. In addition to bonus awards, the winning team can also participate in a one-week immersive business investigation, get free office opportunities at the Shanghai International Chemical New Material Innovation Center, and enjoy the opportunity to carry out R&D, small-scale and pilot-scale activities in the Shanghai Chemical Industry Zone Related support policies.
