2. Smart Solutions for O&M in Plants/Networks to Achieve Carbon Neutral

Background: With the development of industrial parks and plants, how to improve the O&M efficiency, reduce unnecessary consumption of energy, resource, labor, etc. and generally control the GHG emission level of industrial parks and plants, have become a potential hot topic under the “Carbon Neutral” initiative.

Meanwhile, proper operation and maintenance of water/rainwater/wastewater networks can significantly improve operation efficiency, reduce energy consumption, control leakage and waste, improve customer experience, and lower overall operation cost.

Smart O&M tools, such as digital management platform, smart monitoring and control system, asset management system, and advanced digital tools e.g. AR/VR/AI/robots/drones/etc. have been utilized to help improve O&M performance. The development of smart solutions for plants and networks have been identified as heated topics in both sectors.

3. Carbon Neutral in Wastewater Treatment Process (Resource Recycling & Energy-saving)

Background: In recent years, the energy consumption of WWTP is gradually becoming a more and more concerning problem which hinders the construction and development of WWTP. If we could:
1) Recycling resources and/or energy during wastewater treatment process; and/or
2) Improve resource/energy efficiency during wastewater treatment process,
we could effectively reduce the overall energy consumption of wastewater treatment plant, create extra value from resource recycling, reduce GHG emission level, and promote sustainable development.

Targets: Recycling and/or saving achieved through process innovation/improvement

Background: Decentration, tamper-proof, full marks, strong traceability, joint O&M, openness and transparency are the key advantages of Blockchain techs, which makes it a promising technology in various scenarios, which can meet the demands of environment service and/or carbon emission management under certain circumstances.

5. Carbon Footprints and Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage (GHG Emission Reduction)

Background: Climate Change is one of the great challenges humans are facing, while GHG is deemed as the prime reason that causes Global Warming. After China proposed its “Carbon Neutral” Initiative, the concept of CCUS has received massive attention.

SUEZ has been dedicated to reduction of both pollutants and GHG for our clients via improvement of technologies and processes. Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage is now one of the major approaches to fight against Global Warming and reduce human’s impact to natural environment.
